CHALLENGE
For this project we were tasked with creating a pop-up store for a brand in order to market a special line or new product launch. In addition to doing a full brand analysis, we were asked to define unique ways to create a buzz of conversation about the pop-up. We choose to work on Quiksilver and their sustainability project Repreve, which recycles plastic water bottles into board shorts.
PROCESS
The plan for the Pop-Up is to visit 7 cities in 7 weeks starting in Vancouver, Canada and traveling all the way down the West Coast to San Diego, California. Starting June 1st, 2019 the pop-up, made from two cargo containers, would be parked by skate parks along the route. The purpose of creating a tour rather than a static store is to get visibility for the Repreve project by going straight to where the target market hangs out. To kick off each week long pop-up, the Saturday of arrival an event would be hosted that incorporates local artists, musicians and cultural activities. This would include surf and skate competitions, concerts with local bands, and surf film showings.

PROMOTIONAL EVENTS
For each night that the tour arrives in a new city, an opening night event would be hosted to engage the community and create a buzz about the Pop-up store — this includes tacos and beers on the rooftop bar of the cargo containers, concerts, and film showings.
Marketing
To get engagement from the local community, we will host films nights, put on competitions, and employ Guerilla Marketing tactics.
